What is Network Marketing?
Network Marketing, also known as Multi-Level Marketing, or MLM, is one of the fastest growing and most popular ways companies are using to get their goods and/or services to the end line consumers. The reason for this is because it is utilizing word of mouth which is the most powerful form of marketing there is! When you like something, you tell others about it. When you see a good movie, you share it. When you eat at a good restaurant, you share it. It is really that simple.
The reason companies are choosing Network Marketing to get their products/services to the consumers is because they are cutting out the millions and millions of dollars necessary to spend on advertising. By taking it through "Network Marketing" (word of mouth), they are able to get even better results over time without the advertising budget. They are then able to give back to the distribution force the money they would have spent in advertising, thereby coming out ahead. It is a win-win situation for companies as well as representatives alike.
"Network Marketing" offers anyone interested in earning a substantial income (you set the amount you earn!) the ability to go earn it, and allows companies to pay only for production. If you get involved with a company and do not produce, you do not get paid. On the other hand, if you produce big time, you get paid big time! That is why there are people earning millions of dollars per year as representatives for Network Marketing companies, as well as those who earn little to nothing. It is the ultimate in free enterprise. What one puts into it, one gets out of it.

In the past, "Network Marketing" has been given some negative reports and has been called by some negative names. But today, one cannot deny that our largest and most well known companies are utilizing "Network Marketing", or MLM, at some level. Colgate Palmolive, Gillette, Coca- Cola, AT&T, and many other companies are either in the midst of, or have in the past, launched pilot "Network Marketing" programs in some of their product categories. Then there are the industry leaders/oldies in "Network Marketing", including the multi-billion dollar a year company, Amway. That is right; I said billion! One cannot argue with success such as this. Nu Skin International, out of Provo, Utah is another billion dollar "Network Marketing" company.
Most of these companies have excellent, high quality, and sometimes very unique products, that are priced at or below fair market value. Because they do not have to pay one cent in advertising, they can put their money into research and development and high quality products, and then pay the allocated amount out to those in the distribution force. These monies are paid out to those who are action takers. I don't mean paper shufflers, but those who are out there moving real products and/or services to real consumers and/or sharing a real opportunities with real people, and, they are consistent and persistent about it. When they are consistent and persistent about it, the sky's the limit!! This is the beauty in free enterprise - no glass ceilings, no office politics. You are paid for productivity, period.
One question, or objection, I've seen frequently is:
Do I have to get into network marketing companies early to make money?
Lets set the record straight on this right now. It is possible for a person who joins the company at a later time to earn more money than someone who had joined the company at an earlier date. My story is just one of a myriad of examples, which I could relate to you. My husband and I have far exceeded the earnings of the couple who brought us into "Network Marketing". We were very determined and focused and I had an attitude that said "no one could stop me", and we went out and worked very hard to rise to a level that very few achieved.
We were one of the first 50 top distributors for what is now over a billion dollar a year company! The company posted average income at the level we reached was over $74,000 per month! I don't say that to impress you, but to impress upon you that anyone can do this (anyone who is determined to succeed, that is). I had no business background, no industry background, no time, no extra money, and was already committed to a 1 year Masters program that was leading me down another, more traditional "career" path. I went on to earn over $238,000 in one month in "Network Marketing" and I am here to tell you, if I can do it, anyone can do it. I sincerely believe that, and you should too!
One thing I like to point out is that we (assuming you are in, or are looking to get into the industry of "Network Marketing") are all in the same industry. We are related. We need to stand behind one another in this choice of business/industry. Why do I say that? I've witnessed too many people in this industry talking down about other companies in the hopes that their prospect will see their company as the best choice. I don't agree at all with this approach. This is one of those elements which have contributed to a negative reputation for the industry. I implore you to just know how great the company you chose is, why you chose it, what you intend to accomplish working with that company, and be excited about that. Be knowledgeable about the company you are thinking about, and investigate it thoroughly before deciding to represent it. Your conviction of the rightness of the match between you and that company is absolutely essential.
These are just a couple of the critical elements necessary for you in the building of your dynasty. The foundational truths with which you build will determine the strength of all of your business endeavors. Since this is a business of duplication, you will see the approach you use duplicated. Build your business in an ethical manner. This reminds me of something my husband he heard in the State Police Academy; the recruit troopers (cadets) were told just prior to their graduation from the academy, "Welcome to your glass house!" That saying is true in "Network Marketing" as well. Whatever you do will be duplicated by your organization, so be sure you do what you would like to see others do. Always be ethical, and do unto others as you would have done unto you!
